Not much here that I clicked with, and certainly pales in comparison to the wonderful My Darling Clementine. While Lancaster and Douglas are both reasonably fun to watch here, the movie doesn't seem to know what to do with itself prior to the titular gunfight. We get subplots that don't go anywhere and side characters that go undeveloped. It felt much longer than two hours and lacked the emotional resonance of other tellings of this story.

I had high expectations considering the talent involved in front and behind the camera. At 2 hours long is a drag. It's a boring melodrama for most of the running time. It picks up once they arrive to Tombstone.
