There have been countless movies made about the possibility of men and women being platonic friends. This film takes that question and puts a unique slant on it: can men and women seek friends of the opposite sex when they are in a relationship and make both the friendship and the relationship work? As the movie goes on the central question kind of fades away and I think that is a bit of a shame. I probably would have liked to have seen the movie end a minute earlier with a different ending but that's just me. Gave up after 20 minutes.

The romantic in me greatly enjoyed this indie romantic comedy. The nerd in me was amped to see Harry Potter talk to Kylo Ren. Anyway! Everything about this was well executed. It's basically a story about being friend zoned or how chicks and dudes can't be friends. In typical fashion for indie movies, there is more honesty in here than you would ever find in a mainstream romantic comedy. It's messy, complicated, grand gestures backfire, it's not an easy path from A to Zed. Does everything ultimately work out? Does it all fall apart? I won't ruin that. Lots of funny moments, including a few that actually made me laugh. So many cute, hipster Canadian chicks. Totally recommended for fans of indie romance.

Cute rom-com but clearly written/directed by (nice) guys, for (nice) guys... It's their ultimate wish-fulfillment fantasy. [spoiler]I wish the story wasn't so predictable and safe, like by having Wallace ending up with Chantry's sister, Dalia, in a healthy, mutually-supportive relationship, instead of how movies mistake witty banter for romance.[/spoiler]

Daniel Radcliffe proving there's life after Harry Potter, and a romantic one at that. Boy meets girl, girl has a boyfriend, they become "friends" while everyone knows they love each other. But it works because Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan have adorable chemistry and the dialogues are smart without being too pretentious. [SPOILER] The dilemma of whether they can be just friends when there's clearly something more is well handled. And Adam Driver as the intense friend steals several scenes. [/SPOILER] It's an indie romantic comedy that doesn't reinvent anything but does everything right. One of those you watch with someone and end up smiling like an idiot. Perfect for Valentine's Day or when you need to believe in love again.
