This is more than just a romantic drama. It is a deep dive into the Chinese American subculture of Flushing, New York. Winner of several Asian and GLAAD awards, it faithful portrays the forces at play in bending cultural norms. The performances are great. The characters are endearing. I give this film an 8 (noteworthy) out of 10.

I recently stumbled across this movie as it was touted as the best lesbian comedy of the last twenty years. In short, every scene was perfect and the movie is fantastic. While the movie is about two woman who are falling in love it did not beat the viewer over the head with the difficult decision to come out. The movie is actually about people (not just the leads) struggling to break free of societal and familial expectations.
