Director Oliver Stone delivers an inspirational tale of human triumph in his modern epic, World Trade Center. Based on true stories the film follows a Port Authority team that gets caught in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers during the 9/11 attacks. Nicolas Cage gives an outstanding performance (especially given that he spends most of the film buried in rubble), and is joined by a strong supporting cast that includes Michael Pena, Maria Bello, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Additionally, Stone does an excellent job at covering the events of September 11th without being exploitative. However, the writing is a bit shaky and falls back on clichés a bit too often. Still, World Trade Center is a compelling and moving film about the 9/11 experience.

In dem Film geht es um zwei Polizisten der New Yorker Port Authority, die nach den Anschlägen vom 11. September zum WTC eilen um die Türme zu evakuieren. Nach dem Einsturz liegen Stunden unter den Trümmern begraben und überleben. Diese unfassbare Story passiert auf den realen Ereignissen. Der Film ist spannend und man kann mit den beiden Polizisten und ihren Familien sehr mitfühlen. Insbesondere wenn man die Bilder damals auch gesehen hat. Den Tag wird man wohl nie vergessen.

I thought this movie achieved what it was supposed to. It was really disturbing, but I think it was supposed to be. If they made a 9/11 movie that was not disturbing, that would be a bad movie. This movie perfectly portrayed (as best they could) the stories of these heroes on 9/11. What was not necessary was the inappropriate content. I would advise women discretion if they decide to watch this film. It did what it was supposed to, I just personally do not like those kind of movies.

The police could not do much.

It wasn't so much about heroism of this people, because they had it plenty, but about the will to survive, which was well shown in that picture.
