Drei unglückliche Teenager haben ihr bisheriges Leben gehörig satt und fassen darum den Entschluss, von Zuhause auszureißen. Joe wird von seinem überstrengen Vater Frank wie ein kleines Kind behandelt und hat überhaupt kein Mitspracherecht, Patrick kann nicht mehr mit seinen übervorsorglichen und peniblen Eltern zusammenleben und woher Biaggio kommt und warum er durchbrennt, weiß eigentlich keiner so richtig. Zusammen beschließen sie, ein Haus mitten in der Wildnis zu bauen - fernab von ihren Eltern und ihrem bisherigen Dasein. In der Abgeschiedenheit wollen sie ein unabhängiges Leben nach ihren eigenen Regeln und Maximen führen. Doch sie merken schnell, dass es alles andere als einfach ist, auf sich alleine gestellt zu sein und für sich selbst zu sorgen.

Three kids, feeling their way through the anxieties of their mid-teens, get together to build a summer retreat in the woods and escape from a droll season in their parents' homes. It's hearty and funny, a great reminder of the unseen handcuff between independence and responsibility that floats into our lives at that age. The grown-ups are particularly hilarious as stiff, out-of-touch caricatures; everything we see them as during adolescence, rolled up and amplified by a few degrees. Moises Arias is the best of the young actors, playing a weird McLovin type who somehow falls into the partnership with two long-term buddies. His heavy gaze alone is usually enough to get me chuckling, and the cryptic, emotionally-detached lines that usually sprout from his lips moments later are absurdity at its best. It can get a little self-absorbed at times, and spirals off into navel-gazing in the third act, but for a good stretch in the middle it's prime coming-of-age goodness.
I think this may just be one of the most underrated movies I’ve ever seen and that’s on cystic fibrosis 8/10
I expected more. It was alright. Don't know what else to day tbh. A bit odd that people are not looking for the kids a bit more thoroughly.

Some of the most torturous hour and a half I've ever spent on a movie. Pretty much nothing works in this: there is no sense of freedom, there is no sense of adventure, there's no sense of danger, the jokes aren't funny, the drama hasn't enough weight to be taken seriously. Meanwhile the stupidity of the parent figures and the frustration the teens feel are just enough to compound the frustration I felt with the film as the viewer. Some of the acting's great. But it's not enough to redeem this slog that keeps dragging on and on and on and on and oh gods still only halfway through. Kinda baffled by the high scores, honestly, did I watch a different movie or something?
