Let's just say Christian Bale was meant to be Batman. 😂 Not a singer! Even still, this movie did not live up to someone who saw the Broadway first. If you have already seen the Broadway, but has not seen this movie, it is not worth the watch. I do not know how I would have liked it had I seen the Broadway after. So, if you have not seen the Broadway yet either, give it a try! And still, the acting was bad and most of the singers were not great either. Not Disney's nor Kenny Ortega's best work.

I didn't expect to like this movie so much but the story really grew on me, I rooted for the youngsters taking it up against the big shots and even though I didn't find the songs especially memorable except one or two, I got chills by the end. I also love the setting of New York in 1899 and you gotta love the juicy New York accent. Not sure if I would rewatch this quickly but I really enjoyed this.

Enjoyed this. I've noted before that musicals aren't my favourite (the more I watch, the more they grow on me to be honest), but I had a fun time viewing 'Newsies'. It manages to maintain the entertainment whilst keeping strong focus on both the music and storyline, a lot of the musicals that I've seen tend to focus on the tunes first and almost forget about the plot, this doesn't. I thoroughly liked seeing the premise unfold. Talking of song and dance, I rate the musical numbers. I wouldn't say I'll remember or revisit any of the songs but that's not really important, the fact that it all suits the onscreen stuff is what matters most. I do like "Santa Fe" by Christian Bale, who is excellent by the way. Best actor on display, though David Moscow (David), Bill Pullman (Bryan) and Robert Duvall (Pulitzer) are good too. This overtakes 'Babes in Toyland' as my standout Disney strictly live-action musical so far; not including films like 'Mary Poppins', which is a live-action/animation mix.

Wanted to watch this for a while, had very catchy songs, the storyline was okay, but the music is what kept it moving along.
