I have seen the other parts of this trilogy, and I think this one might be the best, but that's not saying much. I've always thought _Susperia_ (1977) was overrated garbage - typically, people who are fans mention the lighting and the score, as if that's enough to make a movie worth watching. As for _Inferno_ (1980), I barely remember it. _Mother of Tears_, at least, comes out swinging. There is blood, gore, a monkey for some reason, and nudity. I'm already sold. Trouble is, as the story moves along, it just gets worse. The story is clunky as hell, there are some bad visual effects, the acting ranges from okay to terrible. What doesn't help is our lead, Sarah, is played by Asia Argento - the director's daughter - and her acting is... not good. Mostly, I don't mind, because she's beyond hot. Do we get to see one of her boobs and her ass? Why, yes! I do love a good, unnecessary shower scene, even if it's a father filming his daughter. Weird. I might have to watch _Scarlet Diva_ (2000) again. Anyway! Boobs! There are many boobs in the movie, not the least of which is from the titular Mother of Tears, herself. Although, the gore, and boobs isn't enough to save the film. See, the way this plays out is like a mystery. It's both fast and slow at the same time. There is so much going on, however none of it is explained; the city is just erupting into chaos, and the audience is left to wonder why. All we know is it has something to do with witches - wacky goth/punk witches. The movie takes so long to get where it's going, then the ending is over in a matter of minutes. I feel like this was trying to be _The Da Vinci Code_ (2006), only with gore, and boobs. Not a total waste of time, but close. I'd hesitantly recommend this to fans of violent horror.
nice movie behtareen movie and jabardast
Three Mothers Trilogy Suspiria (1977) https://trakt.tv/movies/suspiria-1977 Inferno (1980) https://trakt.tv/movies/inferno-1980 Mother of Tears (2007) https://trakt.tv/movies/the-mother-of-tears-2007
The Mothers of Tears was one of my most awaited films ever. I just needed the conclusion to The Three Mothers so bad. In the end, I guess I did get a conclusion, but not at all the one I wanted. For one, It’s nowhere near as stylish as the first two… and I’m blaming technology for that one. Digital cameras and digital effects will never look as good as the “real” thing. Another thing that irks me, is that most of the flair Argento showed us with both Suspiria and Inferno, is gone… What’s left is something that looks like it was made for TV. I don't look bad, just very “digital”. The story is not all that bad, but it’s a lot less coherent than both Suspiria and Inferno… and that says a lot. More silly than scary for the most part. Some sequences are decent, with both tension building and a proper release, but for the most part you get some half-assed attempt at shocking you. The thing that ends up really fucking things up, though, is the ending. You’ll know what I mean when you see it. The acting in The Mother of Tears is not very good. Worst of all is Asia Argento. I have no idea how someone that has been pretty decent in most of the things I have seen her in, manages to screw things up as royally as Asia Argento does here. The darn monkey does a better job than her in this. Simonetti manages a pretty decent score, but it’s not anywhere near his best effort. Often very subdued. I know it’s unfair to compare this to Suspiria and Inferno, but it comes nowhere close to either. The Mother of Tears was one of the greatest cinematic disappointments I have ever had, and I can’t say I like it this time around either. Maybe if it wasn’t tied to two of the better horror films that have ever come out of Italy… I don’t know. All I know is that it’s going to be quite a while until I see this part of The Three Mothers trilogy again.
