[Fantasia '25] At a time of resurgence for the Troma brand, this documentary reflects the independent nature of the production company and its founder, Lloyd Kaufman. But it also reflects that it remains a primarily family business, supported by unpaid volunteers and with a frankly questionable marketing strategy. Filmed at the Cannes Film Festival between 2013 and 2017, the displays of made-up monsters contrast with the snobbish atmosphere of La Croisette, heavily patrolled by the police. But the documentary prefers to remain anecdotal, without delving too deeply into the production company's true independent spirit and without presenting a genuine analysis beyond its contrast with the superficial world of the red carpet.
