I missed this when it was released unfortunately I have recently watched it and wished I'd missed it again
Great movie if you are a person who love Idris Elba.. You will love this movie. I loved it. Watch it for yourself.
Idris Elba. Arguably one of the coolest actors around right now. He can pretty much carry any part given to him. Yes, I'm a fan. And, as I expected of him, he's damn good here too. Unfortunately, one great actor does not make up for a film which is short on originality.
I thoroughly enjoyed 'No Good Deed'. Sure it isn't anything incredible and is rather simple, but it delivers on action and brings tension. It also features very good performances Idris Elba (Colin) - somewhat iffy accent aside - and Taraji P. Henson (Terri) - two actors I enjoy. The plot is simple but it's executed well, it doesn't even have the chance to drag either due to the short 83 minute run time. Not much more to note. A suitably entertaining flick from 2014 by Sam Miller, who also directed Elba in the outstanding television series 'Luther'.
The tagline for this movie is completely wrong in my opinion as it hints toward someone who literally broke into your home and plays mind tricks on you. That said, I really enjoyed this movie and the main reason is Taraji P. Henson. She took the part of home-alone-scared-woman to a whole new level. Maybe I haven't seen the right movies but this was a first for me, seeing the victim of the story be THAT badass! I felt the tension between Colin and Terri in every scene, great casting. Plotwise the movie was just okay but when casting is done right it somehow works out.
