Handlung
Als der junge Devon aus Harlem ein Musik-Stipendium an der Atlanta A&T University erhält, geht für den ehrgeizigen Hip-Hop-Drummer ein Traum in Erfüllung. Doch schon bald muß er erfahren, daß Talent nicht alles ist. Will man in der Marschmusik-Band von Dr. Lee Erfolg haben, muß man sich seinem Konzept “Eine Band, ein Sound” unterordnen. Doch genau das fällt dem Heißsporn unglaublich schwer. Immer wieder eckt er bei seinem Sektionsleiter Sean an und versucht, sich bei diversen Sportveranstaltungen in den Vordergrund zu spielen. Dem Publikum und dem Präsidenten der Uni gefällt Devons unkonventioneller Stil außerordentlich gut, doch Dr. Lee hält an seinen Prinzipien fest. Eines aber steht fest: wenn Devon nicht bereit ist sich anzupassen, kann er seine Karriere als Musiker vergessen!

Great movie from start to finish. Shows character growth, and tells a great story. CLASSIC!

This film is insanely underrated, I mean 5.9/10 on IMDB is just so insanely bad because this film is just amazingly fun and the one thing I will say is that it is also very intense at the times it needs to be because I found myself nervous at points. It hasn't really got anything that makes it super special, except it has a pretty fun story and also the music in this film is just plain awesome with the final part being some of the most fun cinema I have ever seen. It is the perfect film for a popcorn night and almost is like a PG13 version of Whiplash except it isn't as special as Whiplash and it is funnier than that film. I will say I really wish Orlando Jones (Dr. Lee) was more appreciated as an actor as I have seen him in a few things over the years and I think he is an insanely talented actor who deserves to be in more big-budget productions.
