I thought this would be a kids movie but it’s definitely for teens and up. It’s not bad it’s actually pretty good and funny to say for the most of it. It also has a sad emotional side to this throughout the movie but all together I would say its really good to watch for fun
Was a bit bored by this one
The beauty in this film is that it doesn't pander to the audience. The film is a touch creepier than you would expect from a kids movie, but with a little patience, you will see that it isn't creepy at all (or at least not too creepy that your kids can't enjoy it). It is really unique in the family movie genre in that it really had themes that can be appreciate by both kids and adults. And finally, the female lead is astounding. This girl is going to be a force to be reckoned with when she grows up. I really enjoyed the film more than I thought I would, and so did the rest of the family. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
Really really good. Plenty of laughs good CGI and a great story. Perfect cast too. 9/10
An uncommon mix of genres, as this was quite dark for a kids movie and was often shot like a straight up horror film, albeit one where the monsters are made of crayon. Not all of it worked, but thanks to some cute/hilarious dialogue (especially during the first third), surprisingly good child performances, and a suitably bite-size runtime, I came away pleased. That said, the CGI was definitely rough around the edges at points (particularly noticeable during some of the eye-der sequence) and the story started to feel rushed around the midpoint, with scenes more focused on hitting plot points than being entertaining. That said, part of that critique is probably just because not everything that's entertaining for the intended younger audience (e.g., super soaker action) will be entertaining for a 31-year old.
