I knew this would be every bit in my wheelhouse. Look, I’m well aware that it’s cliché and predictable but that never bothered me. I felt the emotion watching this. I loved all the training montages. That’s always some of the best moments in these movies. The choreography was actually pretty good. It was a bit over the top at moments but in an entertaining way. It’s definitely overly dramatized and the sound effects are extra loud and bone crunching. All of those things I enjoyed. I liked the story and I liked the lead character. I loved every bit of this movie. Y’all can take my review with a grain of salt but for me these are always favorites of mine. * Double Feature at AMC Crestwood 18
Yet another MMA based movie with the same template. Retired, family hurt, come back, win, avenged. Pfftt.
Above anything else, it's predictable. Cliches allover the runtime. I'd liked it anyway.
Very meh movie. The plot is mediocre. The main character is somewhat likable; his brother is totally dislikable, underdeveloped, and basically just there for the sake of the story. The fight scenes are good when you have them. For a fighting movie, there are only about two fights, and the ending was not satisfying. Maybe a 5-minute epilogue would have been good.
Can’t say it’s an awesome movie — there are too many clichés throughout, evenly spread across the whole film. The movie itself reminded me of Warrior with Tom Hardy, but with a bit too much drama and too few fights. The fight choreography is good, though — very enjoyable. Russell Crowe still kills it, even when he’s old, fat, and ugly. Great actor. The rest of the cast is okay too, and the main character reminds me a lot of Hugh Jackman. The actress playing his wife is very attractive.
