This was very average compared to the hilarity of the original. I still like the cast and the group in this one. I just felt like everything that made the original great and funny was kind of gone or done over again. Burt Reynolds is always great and he was made for this role. This just didn’t have as much of the entertaining car chases. This had its moments but they were kind of short lived. I also felt like this dragged a little bit throughout. The entire elephant gimmick just didn’t work for me and took away from a lot of opportunities for this movie to be better. I didn’t mind it but it’s not getting above an average rating for me.
As ever so often, the second movie does not match the first one. While still an Ok entertaining movie, it is mostly just more of the same.
a pretty shitty sequel but one note - i'm in the middle of putting all of my watch history from letterboxd right now, so i type in "smokey and the bandit ii" and yknow i like putting up the peace sign whenever i type/read two sometimes and i did it this time, and i look at the poster. omg we're twinning burt reynolds! anyways the first movie had a sort of ending but in this one they just completely ditched the deal? kinda a loser ending tbh
