[CPH:DOX '24] With a poetic look that is represented through voice-over reflections that introduce somewhat basic messages such as "home is where the road takes you", the latest film by director Tamara Kotevska tries to balance the urgent nature of the memory around the millions of refugee children from this unusual artistic proposal with a more adult perspective without really achieving it. The director traces a narrative around the young Asil Elsepti and the projection of her reality in the puppet Amil (Esperanza) who finds affection but also faces anti-immigration demonstrations, fueled by the populist speeches of extreme right representatives. . But the film encounters difficulties in going beyond a sensitive but superficial representation. And it only finds moments of impact in scenes like that of the refugees living under the bridges of Paris.
