I though it was really sweet and charming and just an all round nice, feel good movie. Very pleasant to watch with some good chuckles along the way.
Light hearted comedy with everything you like about Steve Martin that at the bottom has a serious and relatable topic. Also Martin Short is absolutely amazing every scene he´s in. Hilarious performance.
While it’s admittedly a pretty by-the-numbers remake that hits every predictable beat of wedding-prep chaos, Father of the Bride remains an enduring feel-good classic thanks to its heart. The plot follows the standard "overprotective dad" blueprint, yet it avoids feeling stale because Steve Martin is super charming, as usual, balancing frantic physical comedy with genuine, tear-jerking sincerity. It’s a sugary, polished slice of 90s nostalgia that succeeds simply by letting its lead actor do what he does best.
I wish the only problems I had were like these rich people
This was so rough to watch. Steve Martin is much more entertaining in Only Murders in the Building, I never really liked him in the 80s/90s films. Annoying creepy father can't deal with his over-20-year-old daughter having a fiance. Not enough room for Diane Keaton to shine. Unfunny jokes and gags. Delusional, naive daughter. Absolute cringefest.
