Poor writing filled with lame & sexist jokes, which didn't work for me.
My thoughts are all over the place with this one, but let me try to make some sense of the madness. The movie is ambitious, I'll give it that. They tried to do a slapstick whodunnit on a massive cruise ship, and for a second, I was almost intrigued. Almost. The A and B ending thing is a total gimmick, a cheap trick. Option B is even less logical than the rest of the movie, and that's saying something because the whole film is a Swiss cheese of plot holes. An Interpol officer believing a person can die in seconds from a stab wound? Please. The whole thing feels like they threw ideas at a wall and filmed what stuck. The pop culture references and meme usage were pretty sharp, I'll admit. And the movie’s intro with the writing of the number 5 was actually innovative. The little callbacks to the older films, the old songs, and the parrot and the monkeys, gave me a hit of nostalgia, but they were completely disconnected from the plot, making the logic go out the window entirely. As for the cast, it's a mixed bag. Akshay Kumar tries really hard, and his comedy lands sometimes, but it's far from his best work. Riteish Deshmukh and Sonam Bajwa, however, were superb, felt natural, nailing their scenes with ease. Shreyas Talpade was an absolute waste; he looked great at the start and then just disappeared. Nargis Fakhri's attempt at a Nepali accent was so bad it was distracting. Why cast her? On the other hand, Jacqueline Fernandez and Chitrangada Singh were just there for looks and they looked good. The songs are mostly forgettable; only Lal Pari sticks, and the Phugadi thing was just a cringy, unnecessary mess. Also, the blatant objectification of women, especially with Soundarya Sharma's character, felt like they were pushing a borderline adult comedy vibe that was just not it. And don't even get me started on the lip-syncing issues – it was genuinely bad and pulled me out of the movie more than once. They had a grand vision for this one, but it's a classic case of trying too hard and failing. It's not the worst thing you'll ever see, especially if you watch it on a free streaming service like Prime Video, but it's a chaotic mess that could have been so much better. It's not good. SIMPLE.
If you feel like a pervert, you'll enjoy the lame sex jokes in the movie. Other than that there's nothing much other than ey candy and some dumb things they think for comedy
