Love or hate Jake Paul, this story was engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about him outside of what we typically see in the media. A rock-solid entry into the "Untold" series. Rating: 3.5/5 - 80% - Would Recommend

I'm not a fan of the guy, but he knows engagement, buzz, entertainment, and the business...

Obviously the Paul brothers are wankers. Like, medically annoying human beings, but they are extremely shrewd self-promoters. Jake in particular clearly loves being hated and knows exactly what his audience wants from him. Boxing purists bemoan his presence as damaging but the sport has always had these circus-style elements – Chuck Wepner vs Andre The Giant, Calzaghe throwing belts away to fight a reality TV guy, Ali vs a Japanese martial artist. The Pauls are just the algorithms update on that, and they do sell tickets. UFC had boxing on the ropes for years and ironically Jake Paul of all people might’ve been part of what helped bring it back into relevance. The problems: the Tyson fight was obviously staged – I’ve seen Logan in less choreographed WWE matches – which totally dents the brand. And their dad is an absolute weapon of a man who I’m sure is happy tapping into his sons’ multi-multi-million dollar career now. Mostly it just reaffirmed my feeling that being a YouTuber seems like hell: being permanently ‘on’; your life is your content. I’d rather stack shelves. But yeah: Jake Paul is an arsehole. But as a case study in how internet idiocy can metastasise into genuine sporting and cultural influence? Annoyingly pretty fascinating
