It was a delight to watch a new "Peanuts" cartoon, not to mention making Franklin the protagonist on this TV special & giving him a new backstory. Anyone who's read the comic strips or other TV shows & movies should remember that he was a minor character who was Peppermint Patty's baseball teammate & classmate. Again, Franklin's new backstory means he kinda has to "reintroduce" himself to Charlie Brown & the others at this point on the long-running franchise. I plan to show this to my nephews & niece when they show up at my home.

Fans of the series would probably love this. I did not grow up with the series. For me, Franklin felt like a Black Charlie Brown. There was nothing new in this special. The best moment was the montage of the kids building their racer.
