I was expecting more of a Kill Bill-esque story mixed in with The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, but what I got was instead mostly our titular hero running in the Scottish/English countryside, with poor characters and pacing with poor fight choreography only tangling things up more. I will say though the cinematography, the practical fire destruction, and Tornado executing the first henchman were legitimately good though and are music to my eyes.
A deeply disappointing film, poorly thought out and executed. The lead actress is unemotive, the dialogue is dull. Not as good as it appears.
Tornado isn’t for everyone. It is a slow burn movie. Beautiful atmosphere. Well acted. I do wish they spent a bit more time on character development. It’s an eastern western and I enjoyed it. If you liked it try out A Warrior’s Way and Sukiyaki Western Django.
First and foremost, the cinematography. I'm not educated on the technical aspects of it all, but I'm sure it's shot on film rather than with a digital camera, and against the on-location backdrop, it looks and feels beautifully nostalgic. Sadly, that's where most of the positives end. The pacing killed the story, and the context of the story itself didn't feel worthwhile. I was expecting more 'Kill Bill' and got almost nothing alike. Great casting, average performances. I'd only really recommend this if you're into cinematography.
The movie has a charm which we can even feel in its trailer which I believe is mainly the visuals/cinematography but writing, execution and even characters felt dull. For me, the protagonist was the worst thing as its her actions which results in everyone's death while I even feel that there are times that the "evil side " even shows mercy yet ultimately her stubbornness (especially selfishness) results in everyone's death and now she takes revenge "for others"? I just didn't feel her side much.
