This is a much better sequel to Anaconda than the second movie of the Lake Placid . I'm watching both franchises in parallel alternating between each of the sequels. Where Lake Placid 2 has gone into the B-movie territory with it's second instalment, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid seems to be a better instalment than the original classic. The cast consists of a good combination of known actors supported by newcomers (at least back in 2004 they were). The story is interesting, while the CGI looks better than the first Anaconda movie.

Intensely plain, unoriginal mid-2000's horror sequel. Some funny outdated tropes and stereotypes carry along what is basically a worse version of the first movie wuth tons of bad CGI. A satisfying ending [spoiler](exploding snake)[/spoiler] to a good 'bad movie' watch before bed, though.

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid is about as textbook of a late-90s/early-2000s sequel as you can get. It takes the core ideas from the first film, tries to replicate what worked, and ends up delivering a slightly worse version across the board. The effects are rougher, the characters are less memorable, and the tension never quite hits the same highs. That said, it’s easy to see why fans of the original might still have a decent time here. The campiness is intact, the jungle setting still does some heavy lifting, and if you’re already on board for dumb creature-feature fun, this one is serviceable enough. Rating: 2/5 – 65% – Not Recommended to Everyone

If a little monkey is by far the best actor in the cast, then your film has a problem. That's exactly the case in “Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid.” The acting in the sequel to the 1997 cult hit is really not cutting it. The only one who really makes you believe in the fear of the giant snake is a capuchin monkey. In terms of plot, the film is pretty much a carbon copy of its predecessor: a boat travels down a river on a special mission until something goes terribly wrong. The passengers then gradually end up on the killer snake's meal plan. We've seen it all before, so there are no surprises. However, I do credit the film for a few nice moments, despite the poorly aged CGI effects. However, it should come as no surprise to anyone that there was no sequel to the second “Anaconda” film on the big screen until now.

Anaconda war schon ein selten dämlicher Film, der allerdings einige tolle Momente hatte. Sieben Jahre später gibt es nun eine Fortsetzung, die beim Titel ein wenig auf den Alien-Faktor setzt und die Zahl der Schlangen ins Plural setzt. Mehr Schlangen bedeuten natürlich im Umkehrschluss nicht unbedingt einen besseren Film, aber zumindest gelingt es Anacondas – Die Jagd nach der Blut-Orchidee auch nicht schlechter als ihr Vorgänger zu sein. Die Effekte sind zwar erneut nicht wirklich gut und die Story ist super dünn, aber auch dieser Film hat seine Momente und macht immer dann, wenn die Anacondas zuschlagen sogar Spaß. Dennoch bleibt der Film Gesamt gesehen unteres Mittelmaß!
