War 2 fails to deliver a satisfying cinematic experience, primarily due to its weak and confusing narrative. The story is predictable and lacks the depth or intrigue necessary to maintain audience interest. While Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. deliver committed performances, their efforts are undermined by an uninspired script and inconsistent screenplay. Kiara Advani is significantly underutilized, with her role confined to a song, a fight sequence, and a brief glamour shot—an unfortunate waste of her talent. Additionally, the film’s visual effects are noticeably poor, detracting further from the overall experience. Ultimately, War 2 relies excessively on the star power of its leads and the franchise’s established name, rather than offering strong storytelling or innovation.
Hollow. Flashy. Forgettable That’s how I’d sum up War 2. They thought they were building something huge… a Spy Universe flex, the “Hrithik vs NTR” dream clash, big sets, big visuals. But in the middle of all this, they forgot the story. And man, without that, everything else just crumbles. The Good Stuff (Yes, there is some) Hrithik Roshan? Still a king. The guy can make even trash dialogue feel heroic. Jr. NTR? Dude walks in and matches Hrithik’s screen presence blow for blow. His hand-to-hand combat scenes are fire. Anil Kapoor & Ashutosh Rana? Absolute powerhouses. Their scenes had actual weight. The sad part is one of them gets wasted in a completely unnecessary way. A few action set pieces (snow mountain brawl, some close combat shots) are genuinely thrilling. And Then… The Bad News The writing is a total mess. Aditya Chopra and Shridhar Raghavan have honestly killed whatever momentum the Spy Universe had. Predictable twists, unnecessary flashbacks, and side-stories that serve no purpose. Kiara Advani? Completely wasted. Feels like the script only remembered her when they needed a “convenience button.” The VFX? Bruh. Straight-up video game cutscene energy. Some shots look like memes from Twitter. The action? Half-borrowed. There’s literally a car chase that looks like a bootleg Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. The tonal shifts are insane. One second it’s “life and death sacrifice talk,” the next second “Janabe Ali” song bursts out of nowhere. Logic? Dead. Direction – Ayan Mukerji Some moments work, you can feel the flair in isolated scenes. But overall? It’s a letdown. The film is almost 3 hours long, and instead of tightening it, they keep piling on unnecessary drama and fake gravitas. It’s spectacle without soul. War 2 isn’t a disaster, but it’s a huge disappointment. A film with Hrithik, Jr. NTR, Anil Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana should’ve been an event. Instead, it feels like a flashy empty shell—beautiful at times, hollow at its core. They aimed for epic. What they delivered? “High budget despair.”
One time watchable, better than other spy universe films, definitely better than war 1. unlike other yrf films, this one has good emotions and plot along with default over the top action.
Ayaan Mukherji - retire please please please
War was my favorite film in the Spy universe. That is why there were so high expectations for War 2. It failed to meet or even match that anticipation in some scenes. But I still prefer that to other movies in the universe, such as Pathan and Tiger 3. My Ranking : 1. War, 2. Ek Tha Tiger, 3. Tiger Zinda Hai 4. War 2.
