I felt like this _could_ have been great, but doing a (minimal) lore dump the last 5 minutes of the movie was a strange choice. There wasn't a single context clue for any of it up to that point... "uh here's 5% backstory anyway the movie is over now!"
Beautiful storytelling. I also loved the house and that serene country setting — it really adds another layer to the whole experience. It actually gave me the same vibe I had watching Ex Machina for the first time. I’ve rewatched Ex Machina countless times over the years just for those early scenes with the landscape and the high-tech house. I can definitely see myself revisiting The Astronaut in the same way.
If minus 100000 was a movie grade this film would be it. Great actors good slow burn for the first 20 minutes then when the story starts to reveal itself it falls apart. The ending and revelation has to be one of the most stupid and plot destroying reveals since "Rosebud"
rented terrible music/soundtrack terrible plotline plays like a horror jump scare spooky creepy movie throughout, but skipped to end and
ends like Close Encounters of the Third Kind all dorky happy like lol
is like a B-grade version of Knowing (Nicolas Cage movie), poor
The worst movie I have seen in a long time. Impressively bad on every level - needs to be watched to be believed. I cannot comprehend how many positive reviews this is getting. Not sure if Aliens are out there but galactic grade idiots for sure are.
