Man this thing is so over rated it's ridiculous.

I could be completely wrong and just trying to justify the film's direction, but I think Weapons is an allegory and metaphorical representation of what happens prior, during and after a school mass shooting. Considering how complex and heavy of an issue that has taken over the U.S. in the last decade school mass shootings are, Zach Cregger probably tried his best to camouflage the movie plot to not have it boycotted by Warner Bros. Pictures. Alex Lilly suffers bullying in school. Not only Ms. Gandy, but his parents don't seem to pay much attention or take action to stop that from happening. Until one day he is the only kid in his class. The rest have "disappeared". After the event, he and his family seem to "hide" in their house from the rest of the city, who are mourning the lost children, whereas law enforcement does absolutely nothing. Gandy is blamed because parents think she should have noticed from Alex's behavior that he would snap eventually, but didn't. The gun on top of Matthew's house, Alex's biggest bully, represents his main target, which later we discover survived. However, as many victims who survive mass shootings, he was traumatized for life with soulless eyes and speechless for good. Alex was a victim and a villain all along, and Gladys represented his anger, a natural feeling mentioned in the very beginning by principal Marcus to those experiencing grief, who later was also described by Archer, Matthew's father, as having followed and attacked Gandy like a missile. Again, this could all just be wishful thinking and my way of associating the title, gun and missile references, instead of the weak link of it all to Gladys' witchcraft, which could be simply explained as an inspired mixture of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and Hansel and Gretel tales. But I enjoyed the movie, though it took quite the adjustment for me to like the more absurd, nearly comedic ending that reminded me of Barbarian (2022) in dynamic. Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams were all incredible, but Cary Christopher was phenomenal! What a talent! Fortunately Zach Cregger took time to introduce and develop these characters, because they were all pivotal to the story. I would say Weapons is this year's Longlegs. Whether that is a good or bad thing, it is up to the viewer. But hopefully 2025 will continue to be a good year for Horror.

Worst movie of the year … all the paid reviews on rotten tomatoes. Waste of time and money
