This movie was recommended by friend, and I went to watch it knowing nothing about them. If you are planning on watching it, I would suggest you do the same. This is a psychological thriller which is well written— something that you can now routinely expect from Mollywood films, has stunning locations and great performances to boot. From the beginning, we see Peeyoos make certain observations that normally other people wouldn’t, which at the time would’ve been just a throwaway detail to pad time, but every line in this movie is intentional. The shots although looking beautiful, were confusing at certain times and were jarring especially for action scenes. However, that was made up for with the story. This reminds of Coherence with a higher budget, and that’s a compliment!

In many ways, this is a magnum opus. The shots are nothing short of glistening perfection. The soundtrack is compelling enough to feel more like an opera than a supporting element in a movie. The dogs are the best part—even they seem to have depth. The humans, though, could have been better written. Some characters just pass through like mist. The plot is convoluted, but perhaps that is part of its beauty. The climax is simple. One could say the runtime is unnecessarily stretched, but frankly, it does not hurt to behold the splendour in all the shots. The editing is rather bland. Places where CGI has been used look bad, honestly. Sandeep Pradeep delivers an uncanny performance. This slow burn is not one to keep you on the edge of your reclining seat, but it burns to the core. As unique and original as I found the story, something about it still threw me off. It feels scattered and loose-ended in ways that feel very unriveting. I did not feel there were too many hints thrown about, missable in the blink of an eye, and hence, I shall now close this chapter after a single watch with the dog out of the box.

Once again, the Malayalam industry delivers — stunning visuals, beautiful cinematography, perfect bgm and most importantly, a unique story unlike anything else. Not for a single second does it feel boring. The twists are well-executed and genuinely rewarding. Strongly recommended.
