Such a nihilistic, violent film. It must have been really shocking back in the 80s. Still somewhat is. The ending really surprised me.

Streamed via Shudder Arguably the best serial killer film of all time. It's raw, unsettling, and chilling! Crazy how normal and mundane individuals can do such thing so brutal and inhuman. Michael Rooker delivered a great performance! The intro, the home invasion rape, and the ending will always haunt me forever. It felt so real and effortless. Would make a great double feature with Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is disturbing in a way few films are willing to be. It strips away sensationalism and presents violence with an ugly realism that feels intentionally cold and detached. Michael Rooker is excellent, giving Henry a calmness that makes the character even more unsettling. It is effective filmmaking, though bleak as hell.

Didn't quite click with me. Some really chilling moments but overall it plays out like a week in the life of Ed Gein, with no real backstory, closure, beginning, ending, or structure. Maybe that was the point, but it wasn't a point made very well.

Super dark and basically nihilistic. Not sure I have a ton to say about it other than I love Michael Rooker.
