Let it be known that I'm a fan of Jet Li, and have enjoyed most of his movies. This one he should have run away from...as fast as possible. This film blew chunks. Huge, stinky, rotten chunks of almost-laughable bile. The ONLY redeeming part of this movie was the closing credits, for two reasons: (1) the running dialogue between Tom Arnold and Anthony Anderson, and (2) it let you know that the movie was finally over and you could escape with (most of) your sanity still hopefully intact. There was almost NOTHING good about this movie, short of the few opening fight scenes with Jet Li; those were somewhat believable. The pit-fighting scene was not. The daughter was an annoying and unncecessary addition and seriously, what 8-year old has the knowledge or presence of mind to think _"I'll just slip this diamond bracelet off my neck and use the diamond pendant to cut this duct tape off my hands, so I can rummage around and find an old discarded cell phone with an almost-depleted battery that has just enough life left for me to call my daddy..."_ If that one scene sounds unbelievable, picture about 95 minutes of similar eye-roll-worthy film, and you've got this piece of tripe. This movie reeked like week-old sardines wrapped in sour cabbage. :face_vomiting:
Extremely dumb, but 'Cradle 2 the Grave' actually did entertain me. The humour and cast are the strongest parts to this film, it made me laugh a couple of times to be fair. Jet Li (Su) and DMX (Anthony) are the two leads, they aren't all that memorable in truth but at least do have a few good scenes. The main ones I'll remember are in fact two bit part roles in Anthony Anderson (Tommy) and Tom Arnold (Archie). Those two kept things comedic which worked well. Chi McBride is also solid as Chambers, who should've been the main villain in my opinion. The premise is borderline rubbish, but the above mentioned things as well as the music/action made sure I was enjoying myself while watching this - that's sometimes all you want.
