No matter how you look at it, Chinatown Kid is a decent film. But, I didn't particularly like it back when I saw it for the first time. That was a very short cut of this film, with little to no story, This time I watched the almost two-hour-long international cut, and well...I can't say it made too much of a difference to my enjoyment of this film. Granted, the story is much better, but it is told in such a fashion that I feel it's a bit all over the place. I would really have liked more of a coherent story, and I'm really getting tired of Chang Chehs obsession with heroic deaths. The action is, as usual when it comes to anything Chang Cheh, great, and I have really grown to like Alexander Fu Sheng. He's great in just about everything I have seen him in. Chinatown Kid could easily have been one of Chang Chehs best films, but ends up being just okay.
