Mercifully better than Music in its portrayal of autism! This is largely thanks to Leo Long who plays Stevie as this talented new actor is on the autistic spectrum himself. The script is a little weak in places but the movie still manages to be inspirational.
The movie grew on me very fast. I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was 18 (36 now). It's such a great choice to give Leo Long this role. He's not playing a neurodivergent person, he actually is one. Loved the performances by Ed Skrein and Eleanor Matsuura too.
Heartwarming and brilliant. It had a nice viewpoint and loved the acting and scene changes. I'd love to see more of this story! It would make a great series.
I'll be honest, I Used to Be Famous, follows a fairly predictable path that I could see coming from miles away, but somehow that didn't matter at all. This heartwarming story about Vince, a former boy band member who finds new purpose through his friendship with Stevie, a young drummer with autism, completely won me over despite its familiar beats. What struck me most was how genuinely sweet and inspiring the whole thing felt without ever being manipulative or overly sentimental. Both Skrein and Long deliver such authentic performances that I found myself genuinely invested in their characters' journey together. The film treats Stevie's autism with real respect and dignity, never using it as a plot device or inspiration porn, which I really appreciated. Sure, I knew roughly where the story was heading, but the warmth and sincerity of the storytelling made that journey absolutely beautiful to watch. It's one of those lovely, gentle films that just makes you feel good about humanity - predictable perhaps, but in the most heartwarming way possible.
That was a lovely film with a heart within it with a mix of emotions that hit and happy the way it ended, all the cast did well together and i love Electric music, definitely give the film even more of a good vibe.
