I went in expecting horror and left mostly horrified that I paid to see it in theaters. The film was slow, boring, and didn’t come close to delivering the experience I expected.

Hokum is all over the place. It's a wicked witch story, a haunted hotel story, and a murder story. Side plots include a young boy killing his mom, a shroomed drifter with impeccable instincts, and a back room full of demons. The main character is both fearless and suicidal, there's an evil rabbit on a cursed television set, and a dungeon in the honeymoon suite. Even Black Philip makes an appearance. The story lacks identity and space to build. But despite the overload of ideas, there’s enough striking imagery and intrigue to keep the film from completely falling apart.

I really enjoyed this. It’s a nice movie if you liked 1408. Though this time a writer gets stuck a rumored haunted room. At a hotel his late parents once stayed at. When the bartender who warned him about the room disappears. With it said she was in that room last. Adam Scott gets some humor out of the role of the writer top. Who grows on you after being a bit of a jerk in the beginning.
