They waited way too long to return and now the shows lost that thing that made it special. The cast are all adults now acting like they're still kids and it's not working for me. When I look at them I can't get the image of the character Stuart Larkin from madtv out of my head. Eleven, still uses that broken way of speaking, which worked when she was young, but it's just cringy now. They still dress her up like a homeless girl and it feels like the shows just trying to convince the viewers that everything is the same and it just isn't. I think the show would have been better off finding a way to end the series in 'a 5 years after the last event' type of scenario. It would have been a good way to justify the aging of the whole cast.

The show doesn't have that same vibe and charisma now. Maybe it's because I have become older. This season starts 18 months after the events of S04. The epic battle is coming, but the nostalgia has certainly died out for many people. This show really feels like a stranger now. Something is off. The magic is long lost; I mean, it should be considered that this has been going on for a decade. We get to see more of the Upside Down this season. What irks me most is the Demogorgon power scaling. It's really inconsistent. I get it — you need your heroes safe, but at least make it convincing. Now, all the danger is gone since the audience knows nothing is gonna happen when a Demogorgon chases one of our protagonists. There is a scene where Mike and Eleven embrace each other. Man, it felt like two people who met for the first time. The chemistry is numb, and their relationship doesn't feel the same anymore. This season is more violent, gorier, and grand in scale, but where is the heart? They said the stakes would be higher, but the Duffers have failed to convey that to the audience. Characters like Murray and Joyce have become stale. Only the music feels lively and evergreen. Also, I am tired of this same formula each season. This feels like One Piece with its recycled arc. The bullying, characters split into different groups, parallel plot, shitty plans, D&D references, a new human villain... A 3-and-a-half-year wait for this isn't worth it. Now, Will is the MVP of this volume, along with rockin’ Robin. The ending of episode 4 will definitely give any ST fan goosebumps. Holly Wheeler is also promoted to a major role. I am still confused about her age.

There is something very off this season 5 of Stranger Things. They jumped into the final battle almost immediately. No build up of the story like in past seasons. Also the kid characters all acted and talked as in season 1, even though they now are young adults. Over all I got the sense they were just reading the dialogue, not saying it, not meaning it. Either the actors did not get the time to practice the scenes, or the timing was off or maybe the editing. They just say everything they feel instead of showing in. And they talk fast! The dialogue is edited tight as a commercial. You do not get to take in what they say before they say the next sentence. They rushed through everything, high speed, when they need to set a scene and present the plot and build up the conflicts. Which they brilliantly did in the other seasons. Showing of all their monster arsenal as soon as they could also was a great disappointment. Where were the excitement and suspense they built in the other seasons? Suspense is built by NOT showing, at least not immediately. Its the same writers, directors and mostly same producers. They did it so well in the past seasons. It confuses me. I also have to mention the CGI of young Will in his Byers castle. It was the worst CGI I have seen in a long time. It didnt even look like Will! If you cant do CGI acceptable, don’t use camera shots that reveal it, don’t use face close ups! A production team this level have to know this right? Nah, this kills it for me in the same way the last season of Game of Thrones killed it. Its the last footprint a show makes that matters and how it is remembered.
