When he comes of age, Philippe's mother reveals that his father is a British lord, who has acknowledged his French love child. Philippe travels from France to claim his birthright, where he is opposed by his legitimate half-brother.

In the American Colonies, Philippe finds himself involved with the Sons of Liberty, the American Revolution, and a woman. His half-brother and his seductive wife also arrive in the colonies.
