Weakest episode of season one so far and the first one I didn't like that much.

Not surprising that the best episode of this season are the one not directed by Levinson and that actually plays well with the contradictions in which his characters are place, more or less asking what their agency means in regard to how the authorities handle the abuse of someone who doesn’t know she’s abuse and the gender dynamics of these relationships. It’s not good, but having a woman direct these last two episodes really give Levinson’s material a room to breath that he’s incapable to bring in the others.

Maddy’s story is actually so tragic… With all the abuse and gaslighting that Nate has put on her, you can just see so clearly how she’s become a battered woman. She’s such a classical victim of domestic abuse who refuses to acknowledge it… So common, yet so freaking sad. Anyone who thinks Nate actually loves her needs a reality check. This isn’t love. This is only about power and control. And I really hope Maddy will understand that too one day…
