It's not awful, but the writing is noticeably worse this season than it was before.
Just need more Butcher and Homelander..These Starlight and Kimiko storyline is mehh. Also 'Sage' is such an annoying character.
So you're telling me that
the smartest person in the world just banger The Deep
??
Damn, this was a ***great*** fucking episode; dunno why everyone's bitching about it. Actually, I do, because when shows like this aren't 60 straight minutes of surface level humor and violence, they get all bitchy. And, naturally, since they can't binge the entire season in one go, they think there's no overall plot because their brains are so wired to instant gratification that anything that doesn't satisfy that, "sucks".
Having finished these first 3 episodes, this season seems weaker than the rest. You still get that shocking slap from time to time with one scene or the other, a LOT of senseless gore scenes just for the heck of it, and multiple points that I didn't really find appealing: * I really despise Sage's character, I don't know why. I guess that's the point, but still * Too many subplots are in play. In season 1 it was more focused: Kill Homelander and as many supes on the way as possible. Now, it just seems random power plays one to the other. Also, these subplots (even tho that they function as they should - as a filler) are not that interesting really. * The sudden change of Frenchie's love life was complete bullshit. They dilluted Kimiko's and his story, being built up for 3 seasons; just so he can go fuck some new guy. Also, since when Frenchie is gay (or bi or whatever)? What does this decision affect the story that it was "so needed" that it had to be included? I don't quite recall his sexual preferences in the comics, but I'm pretty sure he stayed with Kimiko until the end. I'm fucking sick of these forced inlcusions in every fucking series I watch. I thought that The Boys was safe. I guess I was wrong These things (specially the last point) in together with the wavy quality since season 2, downed my series total from 8 to 7 (at least for now). Let's see how the rest of the season plays; maybe that point can be earn again...or it can go lower. Time will tell
