However, when the mission ends in a crushing defeat, she is captured alive and dragged back to the enemy's stronghold. Preparing herself for the most brutal and humiliating torture imaginable, Serafina is left completely stunned when the barbaric king, Veor, suddenly approaches her and... proposes. Forced into this arranged marriage, she gradually begins to realize that these eastern tribes are not nearly as savage as her kingdom had led her to believe.
