So... they completely changed Pip and her motivations. For... what? Exactly? Why are we taking conversations that happened in a very specific way in the book and changing their context completely to make our MC into a self-serving and self-centered person? Why are we adding parts that make no sense, while simultaneously removing the most impactful moments of the novel? [spoiler]Sal and Pip's conversation happened under very unique circumstances in the book, such that it highlighted to the reader how much Pip _cared_ for Ravi and how much she loved her family. Here, it makes Pip look like a horrible person. And don't get me started on the photos from that night!! If Naomi wanted to tell Pip the truth in this adaptation, why isn't she just... doing it? Why send her on a wild chase in someone's social media to figure out on her own that they're lying? It makes _absolutely_ no sense. They've taken one my absolute favorite parts of the novel - Pip's realization that Sal's alibi wasn't fake (which was the narrative in the media from day one, not some weirdly hidden fact that a police officer randomly decides to share with Pip because... plot reasons) and made it superfluous and _dumb_[/spoiler]. I realize I am beating a dead horse, complaining about every episode. I should probably let it go. But with every episode we're straying further and further away from what made the book _great_, and honestly it keeps bumming me out because I do think we had the structure to have a good, faithful adaptation.
