I hated this series when I watched it the first time but I was younger (lowkey probably too young lol), rewatching it is heart-breaking.
Aversion/Conversion therapy, lobotomising people suffering with anything from autism to PPD/PPP, rampant abuse of the disabled, forced sterilisation.
All these things really happened to people and that's genuinely really horrifying. This series is an, albeit dramatised, way of showing the horrors of what we do to each other. I knew it was when I watched it first time obviously, but I dunno why but it hits harder this watch.
Okay, so I guess the aliens, Arden’s experiments, the devil who possessed people, and the flesh-eating monsters were just in the story for literally no reason? There was genuinely no point to them whatsoever, and each of those storylines went absolutely nowhere… I don’t know why these supernatural elements had to be here if there was no reason for them in the story?? Why couldn’t it have just been a creepy and sickening story about abuse in an insane asylum without all that ridiculousness. It would have actually been scarier without all the weird stuff, in my opinion.
So is ending a episode or two too late going to be a thing going forward as well?
Worst season. Bar none. I suggest skipping it.
